Weekly update: June 11th - 17th, 2012

Nes pickups for the week ending June 17th:

This has probably been one of the most lucrative weeks for NES finds that I've experienced since I started seriously collecting again.  I'm very excited by the fact that I managed to obtain as many new titles in such a short time as I did.

Okay here goes:

Ms. Pacman (tengen) - this one is near and dear to my heart. Picked this gem up at Dragon Cards, Games & Collectibles here in town. The local laundromat growing up had this game and Kangaroo and I hit that machine with enough quarters to choke a mule.

Bubble Bobble - another great arcade classic and personal favorite
Adventures of Lolo - this and the above game were from a pawn shop

And today at the flea market I cleaned up like a Dyson in a dust factory...

Usually I beeline for a guy who sells games inside the building that houses the weekly fleamarket, but for whatever reason today I decided to stroll around the outside first and I found another seller.  He told me that he doesn't set up every week and wasn't sure when he'd be back.  I will chalk this encounter up as right place, right time.  He gave me a screaming deal on 14 new games:

Alpha Mission
Battle Chess
California Games
City Connection
Deadly Towers
Dragon Power
Dynowarz
Gotcha!
Iron Tank
Legend of Kage
Pinbot
Sesame Street 1,2,3
Skull and Crossbones
Target: Renegade

17 games in one week. I am beside myself!!! I know that realistically I can't keep up this pace week to week if we hope to eat, make rent, etc. but it is a rare feat that I am equal parts proud and humbled by.

This was also a pretty cool week because my mom brought by my Legend of Zelda manual and map from my original game.  No cartridge unfortunatley, but it was cool to get those little items.

Weekly update: June 4th - 10th, 2012

Nes pickups for the week ending June 10th:

* Gyromite - kinda useless with out good 'ol R.O.B., but oh well.. nice to have for the original NES Black box set.
* Boulder Dash
* Big Nose (another cool gold Camerica cart)
* Rocket Ranger
* Remote control
* Snake's Revenge: Metal Gear 2
* Top Gun 2 : The second mission
* Terminator 2.

The purveyor of these fine wares also threw in a few manuals for some of the games I have.

Kinda sad that I didn't have a super mario bros. manual before today.  Just decided at that moment that it might be nice to collect these too.  If anyone out there has any that they no longer want/need I'd love to purchase and/or trade for 'em.  Send me a comment, tweet, or email.  Info at the bottom of this post.

In addition to adding these 8 titles to my collection I have also decided to start the arduous process of removing all of the stickers, filth, markings and god knows what else from all of the cartridges.  Some of these games are loaded with rental stickers, some have value village price tags, some have names engraved and other have miscellaneous spills and other stains of unknown origin.  For my own sanity I will not attempt to envision, explain or otherwise determine what the various blemishes are just do my best to remove them.  Look for a future entry with an update to Project Cleanup.

Weekly update: May 28th - June 3rd, 2012

Nes pickups for the week ending June 3rd:

Only 2 to add to the collection this week, first off would be one of the more uncommon titles out there, Linus Spacehead: Cosmic Crusade. This is another one of the Camerica Gold carts. The other one is one of my all time favorites:  Wizards and Warriors.  The music in that game was the stuff of legend.  Gonna sit down on my CASIO and learn that intro up.  If I have any success I will post a video.
