Weekly update: July 23rd - 29th, 2012

NES pickups for the week ending July 29th.

I called this week's pickups my 'Trifecta of Awesome'. A really nice collector in Vernon answered an ad I placed looking to buy games.  I drove out and instead of just completing our transaction amid a few pleasantries we actually talked about games for a solid hour.  So many cool references to NES passed between us and neither one of us missed a beat.

It's so rewarding to meet other like minded people and to become aware of how important these games are to others besides ourselves.

After 60 mins of discussing boss fights, bragging rights, favorite games and the like we made our trade and when I left his place I had added 3 favorites to my gameslist:

Megaman 6
Popeye
Ducktales

I am expecting a package from the US with a few new games this week so hopefully an update coming shortly.

Weekly update: July 9th - 15th, 2012

NES pickups for the week ending July 15th:

The Three Stooges
Snake, Rattle, & Roll
Hydlide

I'm a little disappointed this week because we went away to the Coast for the weekend and was hoping I might hit up a game store down near Vancouver.  We saw one passing through on our way, but couldn't find it on the way back.  I'll call those games the ones that got away I suppose.  Thank goodness for the 'ol standby the Sunday flea market.  Will have to plan a trip just for NES treasure hunting.

Weekly update: July 2nd - 8th, 2012

NES pickups for the week ending July 8th:

Abadox  w/manual
Cabal
Mach Rider
Othello
Platoon
Slalom
Star Voyager

A good week at the Flea Market!  Guess I sort of made up for the
fact that I didn't go last week, but with Canada Day celebrations, etc.
there was too much goin' on.

In terms of standouts from this group (for me personally anyway):  picking
up a couple more NES Black box games was nice (Mach Rider/Slalom) and getting
a two-fer with Abadox and it's manual was cool.  As you'll recall from my
previous post, I sort of decided on the spot that I might start trying to
amass some of the manuals along the way so this is a welcome addition.  The
games were all very clean and only Cabal required some cleaning to remove
red marker on the bottom, but stickers were all pretty much intact and the
carts were in overall good to very good condition.

This has also been an exciting week as I was asked to participate in an
interview/feature on a well-known retro gaming site.   This was pretty
cool as it gave me an excuse to get some quality photos done of my collection
and also let me relive some of my first Gaming memories.   Details about
the feature to follow!
